Sep 10, 09, 07:44 AM Hi, this is Mahim, the person who wrote that article. I used to the word "chicks" to prove exactly that newsrooms can sometimes be prejudiced against women. If you read the complete sentence, it talks about how women are given soft beats or soft stories to cover. The article goes on to say and prove that the women reporters often find by accident that they are actually capable of doing much more - they discover the big cat or tiger in them. That is exactly what happened to Fouzia Ali when she covered the assassination attempt on the minister.
Also, the use of the word "female" is considered far more derogatory.
As for Tanzeel's comment down below, I'd be interested in seeing some reports or ideas from her that we could perhaps all follow. iSAMAA is for everyone and hopefully with time it will develop and flourish...
Thanks for taking part in the discussion, keep writing folks!

Aug 05, 09, 02:18 PM Adeel, your entry reads like your usual instructions to me on an SOP! Ha ha. Now our MPAs and MNAs need to only be 'intermediate-pass'. Pakistan Zindabad!
